I’ve been teaching guitar and bass as well as performing live and recording in Northern NJ for over 20 years.  Just recently  I  moved to Raleigh North Carolina.  With in weeks my schedule filled up with help from my videos on youtube and word of mouth from my students.  There are a bunch of things in the works that I’m really excited about.  I’m putting the final touches on my second ebook.  Vital Guitar Theory Volume 2.  I’m also putting together a music production course for Singer Songwriters or anyone else that wants to learn how to easily record and release their music.  The focus will be on afforability. GOOD SOUND doesn’t have to cost alot!  Also my live lessons via the internet is going through major changes, so stay tuned for that as well!!

If you would like to schedule a lesson just shoot me and email and we can figure out a time that works for you.  I’m also available for production  work and live sound.    E-mail me

A little history:

I grew up in Northern NJ and started playing guitar around age 13.  For 5 years I spent most (all) of my free time in the basement with records (ohh I’m dating myself) and tapes (remember cassette tape?) figuring out songs from everyone from AC DC to ZZ Top.  My goal was to learn at least one album a week.  And so my addiction continued. I tried lessons, but they just didn’t work me, Looking back now the problem was finding the right teacher.

I joined my first band at age 18 (yes I was a late bloomer) and the addiction spred.  For the next 5 years my attention turn not to learning songs but to writing them.  Wow was that a whole new ball game.  This was also when I really started getting serious about the technical side of music as well.  I’ve been recording sound since I recieved a recorder for my 8th birthday.  But recording and doing live sound was quickly adding to the addiction.  I started on the NJ Club scene with a band called The Watch,  and I can safely say that I’ve played in EVERY bar that has bands in NJ.  From one end of the state to the other.

It was also around this time when I started teaching guitar.  It all kind of happened by chance.  When I was about 20 years old I was sitting playing guitar. A kid came up to me and asked me some questions about playing some chords.  He looked at me afterwards and said to me, “I’ve learned more from you in 10 minutes than I’ve learned in 6 months of lessons, Would you teach me?”  hmmm, “How much do you pay for lessons?”  “REALLY?”  hmmmm, “I could do that!”  let’s see, teach guitar and get paid, now that works ! From this one lesson it quickly turned into teaching 43 people a week and having a waiting list to get onto my schedule.   My only guideline was that I wanted to be the exact opposite of any guitar teacher I had met.  It had to be fun.  I would teach theory, by teaching you how your favorite songs were made up.  And thanks to word of mouth and great students, my teaching career continued to flourish.  Teach during the day from 3pm to 9pm and then go out and play or do sound for bands.  I averaged 240 shows a year! for about 12 years.   (to be continued)
